ForMotiv is the first Digital Behavioral Intelligence (DBI) platform. Using advanced, explanation-based predictive behavioral analytics, ForMotiv gives organizations unprecedented levels of insight into their users, leading to increased conversions, better digital experiences, and reduced risk and fraud. We’re well financed and have earned the business of some of the world’s most well-respected insurance companies. We’re a scrappy, collaborative group that is open to challenging each other and believe in learning something new every day.

The Role:

ForMotiv, a rapidly growing startup at the cutting edge of web and AI, is seeking an energetic Senior Data Backend Engineer to join our innovative team. We're looking for a software engineer with a strong backend and data focus who thrives on challenging problems and is excited to work with industry experts.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of developing our high-volume, high-speed behavioral collection platform and related tooling. You'll work with Python services in a serverless, container-based AWS environment, architecting and optimizing data solutions across multiple stores, including an S3/Redshift/Iceberg data lake and real-time Postgres RDS service. Collaborating directly with technology, data science, and management teams, you'll solve real customer problems at the intersection of web technology and AI. This position offers the chance to push the boundaries of highly performant and reliable service-based architecture.

This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a company revolutionizing digital behavioral intelligence. If you're passionate about backend systems, data engineering, and creating scalable solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in behavioral analytics, we want you on our team.

  • Understand and contribute to our leveraging of AWS services.  Evaluate and test new technologies to enhance ForMotiv’s offerings
  • Provide performance and reliability testing of services and data storage solutions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 4 year computer science or related degree (highly recommended, but may be waived with relevant experience)
  • Strong mathematics and problem-solving skills
  • At least 1 year of Python experience is required. This position will spend a significant portion of time coding back-end services.
  • 2 years of SQL experience with multiple dialects.  Experience observing and managing database performance is a plus.
  • Experience working with containers and other serverless technologies is highly desired.
  • Machine Learning or Data Science experience (not required but a plus)
  • Self-motivated, proactive, organized and a willingness to learn.
  • You’re comfortable in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
  • Eagerness to wear multiple hats and lend a hand to your teammates when called upon

What ForMotiv Offers:

  • Stock options with vested interest in growing the business
  • Ground floor access to venture-backed technology start-up with global presence
  • Permanent, full-time employment with company sponsored employee health, dental & 401k plans
  • Flexibly offer both remote & in-office work environments

The Cultural Characteristics we look for:

  • Curiosity: You look at each day as an opportunity to learn something new, not as an opportunity to prove what you already know.
  • Work ethic: You look at each day as an opportunity to get better for yourself and your team.
  • Empathy: You care how others feel around you, and you have the capacity to understand their points of view.
  • Coachable: You know your strengths and weaknesses and you aren’t afraid to ask for help.
