The Role:

Join our growing data science team as a Senior Data Scientist. This hands-on role offers the chance to collaborate with fellow data scientists, engineers, and account management to deliver impactful solutions to our insurance industry customers. We’re actively creating turnkey behavioral data science products, and looking for a data scientist to uncover trends in customer data, develop analytics, and build customer models. This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground-floor of a rapidly growing international startup, reporting directly to the CDO.

Our tech stack runs entirely within AWS, and leverages serverless, container-based facilities to create a highly performant and highly reliable service-based architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Listen to customer requirements and internal requests, query various data sources, mine data for insights, package and present results in a way that makes a recommendation or provides value for a customer
• Support the creation and maintenance of models in our predictive analytics ecosystem
• Drive invention within the data science capability
• Assist in automating the movement and processing of data in a real-time and batch Machine Learning environment.
• Work with our Account Management team to standardize and productize valuable customer solutions

• 4 year computer science or related degree (highly recommended, but may be waived with relevant experience)
• 4+ years of experience in the insurance industry (P&C or Life) or with a technology company selling into the insurance industry
• 4+ years of experience in data analytics or data science working primarily with cloud technologies at a reputable company with references
• Strong mathematics and problem-solving skills
• Comfort communicating and presenting results to stakeholders and customers
• 4+ years experience using Python; experience using tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, Airflow, Spark, Hadoop/EMR, Sagemaker, S3, Glue, etc. a plus
• 4+ years experience using SQL to analyze and combine data across a variety of sources
• Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau preferred), data structures and general data visualization.
• Expertise in interacting with multiple data storage types and products, such as S3,Postgres, Redshift, Snowflake, HDFS, etc.
• Familiarity with MLops concerns, including monitoring and alerting tools such as Datadog, Logstash, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and similar tools, is a plus.
• Self-motivated, proactive, organized and a willingness to learn (and be taught)
• You’re comfortable in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
• Eagerness to wear multiple hats and lend a hand to your teammates when called upon
